Originally an audio piece for a group show at Galerie Sultana in Paris, Dans la gorge une épine evolved into a macabre and intimate found footage animation.
Blending digital aesthetics with the unsettling poetics of hentai, the film explores themes of destructive passion, childhood, and toxic romanticism. At its core is Marie Rose, a virtual actress whose hypnotic presence embodies a disturbing confession — an eerie echo of the Vivian Girls of Henry Darger and their too-early war against adulthood.
